FILTRATION MEDIA
Diatomaceous Earth
Choosing the best filtration solution for a particular wine is vital, as filtration can affect the taste,
Extremely effective and economical filtration aid used for nearly a century.
aroma, structure, and microbial stability of your final product. ATPGroup offers a variety of filtration
• Fossilized remains of diatoms (single-cell aquatic algae) deposited on the bottoms of oceans and lakes during the Miocene Age.
solutions including Eaton’s BECO® range. Eaton is known around the world for developing,
• Comprised of silica with unique cylindrical shape, high porosity, and low resistance to flow.
• Forms highly permeable but rigid and incompressible filter cakes ideal for efficient and cost-effective filtrations.
• Also known as DE.
Application: Add first as a protective layer (pre-coat), and then to maintain porosity (body-feed in pressure filters).
Packaging: 50 lb, 1000 kg
manufacturing and distributing high-quality filtration media for use in the production of wine, beer
and other beverages, and ATPGroup is proud to be its exclusive distributor to the North American
wine industry.
BECO® MEMBRAN PS Wine Cartridges
Perlite
Filtration aid used in both pressure and vacuum filtration equipment; particularly well-suited for vacuum
systems since it is resistant to pre-coat cracking.
• Lightweight, expanded bubble structure derived from volcanic glass.
• Virtually insoluble in mineral and organic acids at all temperatures.
• Results in low soluble metal in the finished juice/wine and imparts no taste or odor.
• Various grades available.
Application: Add during filtration or as a pre-coat at the start of the filtration cycle.
Packaging: 25–35 lb depending on grade
Pre-Coat Fibers (re-name Pre-coat fibers per DK)
Chemically inert complex filter aids used as the initial precoat layer on screen filters including rotary drum and
pressure leaf filters.
• Contains highly purified alpha cellulose and cotton fibers in addition to perlite.
• Extends screen life, improves clarity with lees bleed-through, and improves filter cake stability.
Application: Add as a filtration aid during filtration or as a pre-coat at the start of the filtration cycle followed
by either DE or Perlite.
Constructed using robust polyethersulfone membrane material, polypropylene
support fleeces to protect the membrane, and a polypropylene cage and
core to ensure maximum mechanical stability. Can be used together with the
BECO PROTECT® FS Pre-Filter Cartridges, which pre-filter the wine ensuring
superior protection and maximized throughput for the BECO® MEMBRAN PS.
• Asymmetric polyethersulfone membrane provides high microbiological retention and reliable
integrity testing.
• High filter area (25.2 ft2 per 30”) cartridge along with the asymmetric membrane structure
offers high flow rates and outstanding service life.
• Special design allows for 72.5 psi (5 bar) differential pressure in the direction of flow and
29 psi (2 bar) differential pressure in reverse to support maximum throughputs.
• High thermal stability allows more than 100 steam sterilization cycles and hot water
sanitation, max temp of 194ºF.
• Broad chemical compatibility.
• Available in 0.45 and 0.65 um, code 7 and length of 30” (750 mm).
• Full maintenance of valuable flavor and color in wines.
BECO PROTECT® FS Pre-Filter Cartridges
Used in sweet wines as an anti-microbial against fungi, molds, bacteria, and yeast growth.
Innovative depth filtration cartridges with a unique design of specially pleated
polypropylene fleeces with a larger filter surface area and depth that supports
particle retention capacity. Used together with the BECO® MEMBRAN
PS Wine Cartridges, they pre-filter wine ensuring superior protection and
maximized throughput for the BECO® MEMBRAN PS Wine Cartridges.
• Effective against must and wine-related yeasts including Brettanomyces, Candida, Pichia, Saccharomyces, Torulaspora, and
Zygosaccharomyces.
• High retention for reliable separation effect (Beta Ratio ≥ 5000 or ≥ 99.98% efficiency for
defined particles).
Application: Add at any stage during the winemaking process, especially prior to bottling.
Packaging: 25 kg
• Outstanding protection for subsequent membrane filtration due to fine, new filter material
(by 0.2 μm – Type).
Packaging: 35 lb
Sorbic Acid
• Self-supporting pleats ensure excellent backflush capabilities.
Tartaric Acid USP / FCC
Increases color intensity and hue, improves flavor profile, and enhances aging potential by inhibiting reactions
associated with oxidation and microbial spoilage.
• 100% derived from grapes.
• Backflushable up to 29 psig (200 kPa, 2 bar) at 176°F (80°C).
• High chemical resistance due to 100% polypropylene materials.
• High thermal stability allows steam sterilization and hot water sanitation (max. temp 194°F).
• Red bayonet tip easily distinguishes it from final filter.
• Reduces pH and increases titratable acidity.
• Available in 0.5, 0.6, 0.8 and 1.0μm, code 7 and length of
30” (750 mm).
• Increases effectiveness of sulfur dioxide.
• Full maintenance of valuable flavor and color in wines.
• ATPGroup is a world leader in providing high-quality tartaric acid to the food and beverage industries.
Application: Add at any stage of the winemaking process.
Packaging: 25 kg, 1000 kg
